The West Volusia Tourism Advertising Authority (WVTAA) is the official destination marketing organization for the greater West Volusia County region. Our mission is to develop and support marketing and advertising programs intended to increase the flow of tourism dollars into West Volusia County to enhance its image as a tourism destination. The WVTAA works with area accommodators, tourism service providers, attractions and resources, and event promoters to represent the area to potential visitors, tour operators, travel and meeting planners, and the media. The West Volusia County region encompasses 14 communities, including: Barberville, Cassadaga, DeBary, DeLand, DeLeon Springs, Deltona, Enterprise, Glenwood, Lake Helen, Orange City, Osteen, Pierson, Seville and Volusia/Astor.
The WVTAA was established by Florida Statutes and Volusia County Ordinances. The authority administers proceeds of a 'bed tax' levied on lodging and short-term vacation rentals for the purpose of promoting its regional tourism assets to attract visitors to vacation in the region. West Volusia accommodators collect the 6% bed tax in addition to Florida sales tax. 3% of West Volusia's bed tax funds the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, and 3% funds WVTAA marketing and advertising programs. Of the WVTAA's tax share, 2% goes to the County of Volusia as an administration fee.
Members of the board of directors of the WVTAA are appointed by Volusia County Council. The board consists of seven members from the West Volusia tourism and business community, three of whom must represent West Volusia lodging establishments. The board meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. at the WVTAA offices, unless otherwise noticed.
