Gateway Center for the Arts
I have always had a great love of the arts whether it's visual, musical or performing. The Gateway Center for the Arts in DeBary, was built about 4 years ago and I have been coming to various performances and exhibits since then. What's great about the Center is that there are a lot of programs and events for all ages. Read more… They have classes for children as well as seniors and every one in between. You can learn how to throw clay, make jewelry, master photography and a whole lot more. Their performances include concerts, dance and community theater plays. When you walk into the Gateway Center, you feel a part of the community knowing that your neighbors and friends probably have some art piece they made on display or exhibit. My wife and I always check out their Gift Shop for unique presents to give. All the featured items are hand made by their members and include paintings, jewelry, glass and clothing. And every Saturday morning they have a Farmers Market with locally grown fresh fruits and veggies, handcrafted jewelry, fresh baked breads and cakes, honey and jam made locally and lots more good stuff. Right now the Gateway Center is having a members exhibit that features photography, sculpture, watercolor and oil paintings, mix media, jewelry and pottery. Coming in March is an exhibit called "Odyssey", in conjunction with the Smithsonian, which will be a juried art show of all media. The theme for the exhibit is "journeys taken by Floridians past and present". I am going to make sure I don't miss it. ![]() Bob Bridgens Orange City, ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
