Dream Riders to Roll Through DeLand

By January 29, 2019 No Comments

The Hometown Foundation and their amazing Dream Riders will race into 2019 as special guests at the “Hatters Hometown Hot Rod Dream Ride” on February 16.

The ride will begin at the corner of Woodland Boulevard and East Indiana Avenue, traveling south to Melching Field. The athletes will join NASCAR Hall of Famer Donnie Allison, who will serve as the Grand Marshal, along with members of the 2019 Stetson baseball team for the ride through downtown DeLand. In addition, members of the 2018 champion Stetson baseball squad will join in. The journey will be escorted by the DeLand Fire and Police Departments the for the one-mile procession.

In addition to bringing their smiles and good luck to the Hatters as they take on Sam Houston State that evening, the Dream Riders will meet the team and dine in the players’ lounge upon arrival at Melching Field.

Dream Ride signature events are a combination of charitable celebrations and fabulous car shows so, of course, the day would not be complete without the spectacular hot rod car show. It’s a fun-filled schedule for the superstar athletes as they wave to fans, dine with the Hatters, cruise in the hot rods and take the field for the first pitch and National Anthem prior to the game. It’s also just another day about friends, family and community coming together to make dreams come true.

A very special thank you to Stetson University, “Hotrod” Robert Fortner – President of the Car Club, DeLand Chief of Police Jason Umberger, Rick Hall from the City of Deland and Rick Sproggins from the Miracle League Network for making this day so special. We’re honored to be a part of it.

The Hometown Foundation, Inc. is 501(c)(3) charitable foundation, founded in 2002, and supports six core community needs: military, children in need, intellectual disabilities, life threatening illness, emergency response personnel and animal welfare. Through its signature events, The Dream Ride Experience and Dream Cars and Cocktails, The Hometown Foundation has raised more than $7.7 million for Special Olympics and other charities.

The foundation was established by Stetson University alumnus Michael Bozzuto as a way to bring communities together.

These incredible acts of kindness are what Dream Ride is all about when it comes to helping those in need. Amazing things happen when organizations such as Dream Ride come together with the community.
