Downtown DeLand Ice Cream Walk 2024

The Westons ended the school year and started the summer at the DeLand Ice Cream Walk back in May. Now, they are already marking their calendar for the end-of-summer edition set for August 9, 2024! Here, they give you tips and what to expect on the walk.

Why the DeLand Ice Cream Walk?

Of course, the big draw of the Ice Cream Walk is the ice cream! There are many different flavors and themes in adorable tiny cones. But beyond the ice cream is the opportunity to stroll around downtown DeLand. If you’ve never been or haven’t been in a long time, you will love the charming shops and businesses along the way. And let’s not forget that it’s a great way to spend time with friends and family.

Getting Started

Get your tickets ahead of time! Tickets sell out fast. You can purchase them on the MainStreet Street DeLand Association’s website at mainstreetdeland.org.

On the day of the event, head down to Pioneer Park in Downtown DeLand, at the corner of Woodland Blvd. and Rich Ave. There, you will find a few booths from the sponsors, and you’ll pick up your official Passport.

Your Ice Cream Walk Passport

Your passport helps you plan your walk and helps you and your family decide what ice cream everyone wants to try. The passport includes:

● Map of the area with shop locations

● What shops have what flavors

Once you have your passport, you are free to explore and get your checkmarks, stamps, or hole punches as you consume yummy ice cream.

The Ice Cream

Of course, we can’t talk about the ice cream walk without talking about the cool flavors available. When you buy your tickets, you don’t know what shops and flavors will be offered. It’s a fun surprise.

Although the ice cream is served in tiny cones and cups, don’t be surprised if you fill up before you try all the options. My 12-year-old and 15-year-old filled up pretty quickly. I couldn’t believe it!

The ice cream was provided by:

Here are our favorite flavors from the Summer 2024 Walk in no particular order*:

Cotton Candy at Pat and Toni’s Sweet Things

Jesus, The Real Hero at First Church DeLand

Chocolate Bliss at Oliver & Gray

Cascadian Wild Raspberry Balsamic Sorbet at The Anointed Olive

*Flavors and locations can change from previous ice cream walks.

The Memories

The most important part of the DeLand Ice Cream Walk is the memories you will make. It’s a great way to bond, chat, and take photos. It’s one of those easy evenings where the whole family can laugh and mark the start of summer.

This was the first year we attended, and all I can say is, “Why didn’t I do this before?!” Having a tween and a teen, it can be challenging to enjoy time together. Walking around while trying to keep the sweet ice cream from melting down our hands and searching the map for our next yummy stop removed some barriers. It was a night we will remember and we can’t wait for the next one! So don’t wait, get your tickets now!
